01 Audience × creative testing

Nine ad sets. One clear answer.

Meta rewards structured testing: the same offer, different audiences, different creative angles. Select a cell to see the ad and the hypothesis that ad set is built to test.

Testing

Broad prospecting × Problem — lead with the frustration the product solves.

Hypothesis

Cold audiences respond to a problem they recognise before they care about the brand.

02 Formats

Placements and formats, chosen for the job.

The same message looks different in a feed, a story or a form. Select a format to see how it appears and what it needs.

Feed image

Single image or video in the Facebook and Instagram feeds.

Best for
Clear, single-message ads and fast creative testing.
What it needs
  • Square or 4:5 creative
  • Primary text, headline and description variants
  • A landing page that matches the promise

03 Conversion journey

From the scroll to the sale.

Select a stage to see what has to be true for an impression to become a customer.

Purchase and lead data from the pixel and Conversions API feed back into audiences and creative.

Audience

Who sees the ad — broad, interest-based or retargeting.

  • Separate prospecting from retargeting
  • Let broad targeting work when creative is strong
  • Exclude existing customers where it makes sense

04 Strategy to launch

A testing system, not a guess.

Every Meta account follows the same sequence, so creative and audiences are tested deliberately — not changed at random.

  1. Audit

Pixel and Conversions API health, past campaign structure and what creative has actually worked.

    Output Pixel & CAPI audit

  2. Account setup

Campaign structure and naming convention built for clean testing and readable reporting.

Output Campaign structure & naming convention

  3. Testing framework

Audiences, angles and budgets planned as a matrix, so every test answers one question.

    Output Creative testing calendar

  4. Creative

Briefs and variants per angle and placement — hooks, formats and copy written to be tested.

    Output Creative briefs & variants

  5. Launch

Staggered launch with budget pacing and early reads on hook and click quality.

    Output Launch plan

  6. Scale & refresh

Winning sets scaled, fatigued creative refreshed, findings reported weekly and reviewed monthly.

    Output Weekly performance report

05 Alignment

Audience, angle and page — telling one story.

The same ad can work for one audience and fail for another. Compare an aligned set-up with a misaligned one.

New people looking for a better laptop bag

Problem-first: why most laptop bag designs fail

Landing page

Laptop bag page that explains the fix, then shows sizes

Repeats the intent

Why this works: Cold audiences need the problem and the product explained; the page continues the same argument instead of jumping to checkout.

06 Measurement

What the numbers actually tell you.

Weekly and monthly reports explain performance in business terms. Select a metric to see how it's calculated and where it misleads.

08 FAQ

Meta Ads questions, answered.

How long until a test tells us something?

Each ad set needs enough results to compare fairly, so tests are read once they've gathered meaningful data — usually over days to weeks depending on budget and conversion volume, not hours.

Do we need the Conversions API?

Browser tracking alone misses events because of privacy settings and ad blockers. Running the pixel and Conversions API together gives Meta more complete data to optimise on.

Who makes the creative?

We write briefs and variants for every test and can produce them, or work with your designers and existing assets. What matters is having enough distinct angles to test.

Broad targeting or interests?

Both have a place. Broad targeting often works well once the pixel has data and the creative is strong; interest and retargeting audiences help early on and for specific messages.
